Life sized 20th century plaster bust of Ippolita Maria Sforza (1445-1488) after a marble bust attributed to Francesco Laurana (1430-1502) from around 1473. Hand painted.
Ippolita Maria Sforza was an Italian noblewoman; a member of the family that ruled the Duchy of Milan from 1450 to 1535. She was the first wife of the Duke of Calabria, who later reigned as King Alphonso II of Naples. She was said to have been a very beautiful, intelligent and cultured woman.
